Manzambi to miss Switzerland’s World Cup quarter-final against Argentina with injury
Switzerland will be without Johan Manzambi for their World Cup quarter-final against Argentina.
The SC Freiburg midfielder missed Switzerland’s round of 16 penalty shootout victory over Colombia with a knee injury and has failed to recover in time for the last-eight clash.

“We tried everything that we could to get him back, unfortunately, he’s unable to perform tomorrow,” Switzerland coach Murat Yakin said at a press conference ahead of the game (via Reuters).
“Johan Manzambi is in a lot of pain. It was a shock to all of us. This momentum was on his side, and there is so much joy when he plays football.”
Manzambi has been one of Switzerland’s standout performers at the tournament, racking up three goals and two assists in his first four World Cup appearances.
