Carín León turned an Argentina concert into the starting point for a collaboration that stretches across Latin America.
His new single “Qué Andas Haciendo,” recorded with Argentine group Ke Personajes, is out now, pairing León’s Música Mexicana Contemporánea roots with a cumbia pulse that connects Mexico and Argentina.
León first surprised fans by bringing Ke Personajes onstage in Argentina to debut the song live, revealing their first collaboration together.
“Qué Andas Haciendo” looks back at a relationship that still lingers, circling nostalgia, heartbreak and the questions that remain when someone from the past stays on your mind.
Musically, the track begins in familiar Carín León territory before shifting into cumbia, blending Mexican norteña cumbia with Argentine cumbia. The combination gives the song a broad Latin American identity while keeping León’s unmistakable vocal presence at the centre.
It’s another strong example of the musical curiosity heard throughout his recent album ‘Muda.’ León keeps finding room to stretch Música Mexicana without losing the qualities that made his songs connect in the first place.
The single arrives during an especially ambitious stretch of international touring for León. He’s currently in Japan for his debut on the Asian festival circuit, including performances at Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka and Tokyo.
His Tokyo appearance carries a historic distinction, with León becoming the first Mexican performer to headline a music festival in the city.
That follows dates across Argentina, Colombia and Peru on his “De Sonora Para El Mundo Tour,” with another major first waiting in September.
León will play 7 shows at Sphere in Las Vegas, becoming the first Latin performer to take the stage at the venue.
Once the Las Vegas run ends, he’ll continue the “Muda Tour Norteamérica,” with stops including San Diego, Fresno, Los Angeles and Glendale before the tour wraps in Mexico in October.
“Qué Andas Haciendo” arrives right in the middle of that international expansion, bringing León together with Ke Personajes for a song that moves easily between borders, styles and dance floors.
