U.S. Army UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters
The United States has approved a possible $140 million Foreign Military Sale to Argentina covering four UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters and associated equipment, training and logistical support.
Argentina has requested four UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters along with two spare General Electric T700-GE-701D engines.
The package includes IFF and navigation systems, radios, emergency transmitters, auxiliary fuel tanks, fast-rope and rescue equipment, hoists, cargo hooks, Bambi Buckets, spare parts, maintenance equipment, training, and technical and logistics support.
No weapons or active defensive systems are included in the proposed package.
The Black Hawks are expected to expand Argentina’s ability to conduct troop transport, air assault, border-security operations, counter-transnational crime missions, search and rescue, aeromedical evacuation and humanitarian assistance.
The inclusion of rescue equipment and Bambi Buckets also gives the helicopters a significant civil-protection and firefighting role.
Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, is identified as the principal contractor for the proposed sale.
