An event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine’s independence was held at the Legislature of Buenos Aires. During the event, participants thanked Argentina for its support of the Ukrainian state and presented state awards and honorary distinctions.
This was reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in Argentina on Facebook.
The event was organized at the initiative of the Ukrainian Central Representation in the Argentine Republic. Participants expressed their gratitude to representatives of state and private institutions, the media, civil society, communities friendly to Ukraine, and everyone supporting Ukraine amid Russia’s full-scale aggression.
Ukraine and Argentina celebrated their historic ties
Ukraine’s Ambassador Yurii Klymenko emphasized the special historical ties between the two countries. According to him, more than a hundred years ago Argentina recognized the Ukrainian People’s Republic, and in 1991 became the first country in Latin America to recognize the independence of modern Ukraine.
Particular attention during the event was devoted to Argentina’s humanitarian assistance, its political solidarity with Ukraine, and its participation in international initiatives supporting the Ukrainian state. Institutions, media outlets, and civil society representatives that continue to support Ukraine were also recognized.
