Argentina is already settled at its base camp in Kansas, the city that will serve as the Albiceleste’s hub throughout this World Cup. The team’s official account shared images of the players arriving, led by Leo Messi, and also highlighted a curious detail that did not go unnoticed.
Lionel Messi does the unthinkable after a fan asked him for an autograph
The captain will stay in room 202, after choosing 201 at the previous World Cup, where Argentina was chasing its third star. For the more superstitious, the digits of that room added up to 3 (2+1). Now, the digits add up to 4 (2+2), matching the fourth star Argentina hopes to win after its triumphs in 1978, 1986, and 2022.
Next door, in room 203, he will have two of his most trusted lieutenants. Two of the players with the strongest influence in the squad, Rodrigo De Paul and Nicolás Otamendi, who will stay close to Leo so they can talk every day
This is Argentina’s training camp in Kansas
The Argentina national team’s Instagram account shared a video of the Albiceleste’s base in Kansas, the Origin Hotel Kansas City. It is a complex inaugurated in 2024 on the banks of the Missouri River, offering all the amenities that Scaloni and his coaching staff were looking for to prepare for the World Cup under optimal conditions.
It is located in a secluded and quiet area, and has been customized for the occasion with Argentina’s colors and images, along with motivational messages. It features spacious common areas for relaxation and recreational games, a large dining hall, outdoor terraces, and comfortable rooms with large beds—everything designed to keep the squad at ease.
