Marcelo Valeri met Rossi and club officials at the hotel on Wednesday night to discuss an extension. There were signs of progress, though talks are still at an early stage. Based in Buenos Aires, the agent took the chance to drop in.
Head coach Leonardo Jardim has kept faith with Rossi, noting one key save and his play out from the back, going long when required. Despite a positive internal view of Andrew, there are no doubts over Rossi’s starting spot.
“Right now my head is on this run-in. The desire is always there, I have a contract until the end of 2027. So far there have been some talks, but only brief ones. I will focus on the sporting side now,” he told ge.
Rossi returned to the stadium where he shone in last year’s Libertadores and helped secure a 0-0 that leaves Flamengo one simple win from another final. They visit Bahia on Sunday in the Brasileiro, then host Estudiantes at the Maracanã next Thursday.
