Roggerone Helps Argentina Qualify for World Cup – gorunners.com

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Following a standout tournament performance, Cal State Bakersfield women’s soccer alum Catalina Roggerone recently helped her native Argentina clinch a spot in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Roggerone and Argentina battled against the rest of South America’s talented squads since October of 2025, looking to be one of the top two teams in the CONMEBOL Women’s Nations League to earn a berth in next year’s World Cup. With their recent results, Argentina secured enough points to guarantee one of those coveted spots.

Roggerone recently wrapped up a storied career with the Roadrunners in which she was a vital component of the CSUB roster for four years. All the while, the native of Mendoza, Argentina was earning call ups from the National Team as Roggerone balanced her studies, her duties to CSUB, and her call to represent her home country with grace and poise. She played in 67 career games for the `Runners and tallied over 5,000 minutes in the Blue and Gold, helping CSUB raise itself to new heights on the pitch.

Of Argentina’s seven qualifying matches, Roggerone was on the roster for four games while appearing in three of those contests. She earned a start against Colombia back in April as Argentina tallied a crucial draw against the team they are tied with in the qualifying standings. During June’s clinching match against Peru, Roggerone earned another start as Argentina sealed the deal on their next steps.

“La Selección” has now qualified for its third-straight World Cup Argentina after missing out on the previous two tournaments (2011, 2015). Argentina will now have a year to train for the 2027 World Cup, which will be held in Brazil next summer.
