NewPeak Metals set to kick off Argentina drilling as Tansey assays near – Proactive financial news

NewPeak Metals Ltd (ASX:NPM, OTC:NPMFF, FRA:NPM) is entering a key stretch of exploration activity, with drilling about to begin at its Las Opeñas gold project in Argentina and assay results pending from its Tansey project in Queensland.

The update brings together two near-term catalysts the company has been flagging in recent weeks, as it advances parallel gold exploration programs across its portfolio.

Argentina drilling campaign ready to begin

At Las Opeñas in San Juan Province, site preparations are now largely complete, with drilling on track to begin within the next week.

NewPeak has established an accommodation camp and core processing facilities at Malimán de Abajo, secured water supply for drilling and is preparing for the arrival of contractor Ecominera, with equipment expected on site imminently.

The work marks the transition from planning to execution at a project the company has been positioning as a potentially large-scale gold system. NewPeak has previously highlighted a minimum 2,500-metre diamond drilling program designed to test a breccia-hosted target, with scope to expand depending on results.

Las Opeñas sits within the El Indio Belt — one of South America’s most prolific gold regions — on the same structural trends as major deposits including Veladero and Pascua-Lama.

Historic drilling and surface sampling have already pointed to broad mineralisation, with the upcoming campaign expected to provide the first systematic test of deeper targets and overall scale potential.

Tansey assays now expected in May

While drilling is about to begin in Argentina, attention is also turning to Queensland, where results from the Tansey gold project are now approaching.

NewPeak confirmed that a majority of the 1,179 metres of diamond drill core has been prepared and transported to ALS Brisbane’s laboratory for analysis.

However, sample preparation delays have pushed back the expected timing of results, which are now anticipated in mid-to-late May.

The Tansey program targeted extensions beneath and adjacent to a historic underground gold mine, with results expected to guide the next phase of exploration and interpretation.

Dual catalysts line up near-term news flow

Together, the two projects position NewPeak for a steady stream of exploration updates in the weeks ahead.

With drilling about to commence at Las Opeñas and assay results pending from Tansey, the company is moving into a more active phase across both jurisdictions, as it looks to clarify the scale potential of its Argentina project while advancing discovery opportunities in Australia.
