Argentinian soccer fans had a significant scare in the last MLS game of the season. Argentina’s star man, Lionel Messi, was taken out of the game with an injury. Considering his age and the proximity to the beginning of the 2026 World Cup, disaster bells were ringing in every fan’s head. Fortunately, Messi has avoided serious injury.

Though Messi and the Argentinian National Team have not yet confirmed, Messi is expected to be all systems go for the 2026 World Cup as Argentina looks to defend their 2022 title. Messi, who played every single minute of the 2022 World Cup, will be pivotal to that title defense. Everyone can breathe a big sigh of relief.

Argentina’s first match is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16th against Algeria at 9:00 p.m. ET.
