Leandro Paredes acted as the spokesperson for the Argentina National Team following the passing of Jorge Messi. The midfielder expressed the intention he has, along with other teammates from the Albiceleste, to support Lionel and be close to him during this difficult time.
The Boca Juniors captain spoke after his team’s draw against Vélez Sarsfield in the Argentine League and referred to the matter: “I wasn’t able to speak with him. Now we have to wait for him to arrive in the country and see if we can go visit him to support him at this moment, because we feel it as our own because of everything he means to us.” His remarks coincided almost exactly with Leo’s arrival in Rosario.
With those words, Paredes reflected the great camaraderie that exists among the members of the Argentina National Team and in that way expressed that they will not leave Messi alone in these very difficult moments he is going through.

Another of the players who made public his message for Lionel was Nicolás Otamendi. The Argentina national team defender said: “My condolences to his entire family. I have already passed them on to the “Little One” [the affectionate nickname he uses to refer to Messi]. I hope they have the strength to overcome this situation.”
Although the clinic where Jorge Messi died specified that it will not give any kind of detail about the cause of death, Lionel ‘s father had been going through several months with deteriorating health.
One example of this was the words of the Argentine star after his “hat-trick” against Algeria, an occasion on which he acknowledged that he was going through delicate family moments. Immediately, rumors focused on the health of his father. So much so that the family had to issue a statement to clarify that the man was undergoing medical treatment and improving favorably.
It should be remembered that, after the end of the 2026 World Cup, the Argentine captain boarded a plane bound directly for the city of Rosario to accompany his father.
