Last-minute World Cup sale phase opens for all matches, including 6 games in Kansas City – KCTV

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. (KCTV) – FIFA released tickets for all 104 World Cup matches Wednesday morning, including six games in Kansas City.

Tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. CT on FIFA.com/tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. The six Kansas City games include Argentina’s opening match and a quarterfinal at Arrowhead Stadium, which will be called Kansas City Stadium for the duration of the tournament.

Felipe Alcala, a youth soccer coach, said he was waiting for information and preparing to buy tickets.

“They don’t give options to buy what kind of game. You need to be ready – what offer or what game is going to be available,” Alcala said.

Claudia Luna, owner of Buenos Aires Restaurant, said she already secured her seats. Luna is from Argentina, and her team is playing in Kansas City.

“Everybody wants to go to that game. It’s the most expensive game. If you see the other games, the others are. Being Argentina the champion, I think that’s what makes it more desirable and more expensive,” Luna said.

Luna said she will be at the June 16 game to defend Argentina’s title.

Alcala said he and others are saving money for tickets regardless of seat location.

The ticket drop is part of the ongoing last-minute sales phase, which runs until the end of the tournament. Additional tickets will continue to be released on an ongoing basis until the final on July 19.

More than five million tickets have been sold for the tournament, which begins in 50 days. The 48-team competition will take place across 39 days in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
