John Summit has responded to the backlash over his set in Argentina last night, where he closed off the decks roughly 40 minutes before the end of his scheduled 3-hour slot. Taking to Reddit under his official account, the American house heavyweight offered his side of the story after fans questioned the early exit.
Explaining the timing, Summit posted: “Longest show of this tour, I went straight to airport to play Rio tonight. Promoter should’ve booked a closer after me if they wanted party going on that much later. I gave it my best, sad to see how unappreciative the crowd was about it but it is what it is. I always give me 100%, I guarantee that but I’m really dead rn.”
His response has since divided fans across social platforms — some backing him for the extended run of shows, others feeling short-changed given the ticket price and set length promised. One fan defended him online, writing: “He came from Colombia to Brazil with practically no time to rest, with his flight delayed, and even so, he still took the time to meet and welcome his fans. He was already losing his voice, but still delivered an amazing show.”
The same fan added: “I’m sure he barely had any time to rest before heading to Argentina, and then he was coming back to Brazil again for Rock in Rio. I completely understand the frustration, especially considering how much you invested in the experience, but I truly believe John gave it his absolute best.”
The Argentina show comes at the tail end of one of the most intense stretches of Summit’s touring year. In other news, he recently confirmed he would donate 100% of his Bogotá show profits to Colombia earthquake relief, further demonstrating his commitment to the region during this South America run.
