Life goes on for Argentina after Leo Messi’s recent emotional departure from the national team in Buenos Aires.
The friendly game held in El Monumental against Benin was Messi’s 208th and final match in the famous sky blue and white stripes as he steps aside from the international game to focus on his club side Inter Miami.
After toying with the idea of an Asian tour for the forthcoming FIFA international window in November, finally the Argentine Football Association (AFA) have decided on two friendly games on home soil.
Lionel Scaloni’s men will now play Uruguay at La Bombonera (Buenos Aires) on Saturday, November 14 and then head to the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes (Córdoba) where they take on Costa Rica the following Tuesday.
Scaloni will likely be managing squad rotation due to minor injury setbacks, including Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martínez who is set to miss these games due to an ongoing thigh strain.
