Executive Moves – Svitzer names new head of operations in Argentina – rivieramm.com

One of the world’s largest tugboat owners has appointed a managing director for its activities in Argentina as it grows its operations in Latin America

Svitzer has hired Rodrigo Torras as its managing director in Argentina, where the Copenhagen, Denmark-headquartered tugboat owner expects to raise its operations.

He is returning to Svitzer after spending two years as chief executive of Compas, a network of port terminals in Colombia.

Mr Torras was previously managing director of Svitzer Americas’ Terminal Towage cluster for nine months in 2024, when he managed operations in the Bahamas, Canada, Costa Rica, Peru and St Eustatius.

At that time, this was Svitzer’s largest cluster in Latin America in terms of operational capacity and revenue.

Mr Torras has also held roles of chief executive and managing director in ports and terminals across Latin America, including in Cartagena and Buenaventura, in Colombia, Buenos Aires and Bahía Blanca in Argentina.

Back at Svitzer, he will oversee an operation of more 100 crew members in six ports in Argentina.
