** Yemen’s Houthis have assured Washington that they would not attack U.S. vessels in the Red Sea, following reports that the U.S. cancelled its planned strikes on the group at the last minute, a senior Houthi official said on Monday.
Qatar
** Qatar has ruled out using pipelines to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, saying the alternative would require new liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities outside the country which does not make economic sense. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and chief executive of Qatar Energy, said neighboring countries had offered to let Qatar use an alternative route through their territories.

** The U.S. The House Judiciary Committee plans to debate and vote on the “Stop Climate Shakedowns Act of 2026,” introduced in April by Wyoming Rep. Harriet Hageman. The bill would block many liability claims involving businesses across the energy supply chain, a step that could protect oil and gas companies from lawsuits over climate damage, Inside Climate News reported.
** More than 100 people filled the Missouri State Capitol rotunda last week for a rally calling for a state moratorium on data centers. It was led by members of the No MO Dirty Data Centers coalition. The coalition is made up of Missouri residents along with the Missouri Rural Crisis Center, a farm and rural area advocacy group based in Columbia, and the Missouri Workers Center, a St. Louis-based workers advocacy group.
** House Republicans launched an investigation into a foreign-funded climate activist group over concerns that it is unduly influencing the American judicial system, according to a letter obtained by The Daily Wire. House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) demanded that ClientEarth USA turn over documents related to its climate-focused lawsuits. Jordan said he was probing whether the group was “using foreign funding and abusing the American legal system to disrupt American industries and stop domestic energy production.”
** Hitachi Energy plans to more than double its U.S. production capacity of small and medium-sized power transformers with a new, $528-million manufacturing facility in Gallman, Mississippi, the company announced .
** POET Biofuels, the largest bioethanol producer in the U.S. with 35 plants across the Midwest is supporting Union Pacific’s proposed acquisition of Norfolk Southern. POET uses rail to ship bioethanol, distillers dried grains, and other agricultural products from its facilities, which sit in the so-called watershed area within a few hundred miles of the Mississippi River.
** The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced it will sponsor a $215 million competition in which teams will race to build a scientifically useful, error-corrected quantum computer by 2028. DOE envisions supporting between three and 10 teams, and to get full funding, a team will have to reach various performance milestones along the way.
