Benji Gregory tenía 8 años cuando se incorporó a la serie sobre el personaje llegado de Melmac que se quedaba a vivir con la familia Tanner.
Porque algún canal reitera los viejos episodios o porque la prensa se ocupa de la vida de los que integraron el elenco, lo cierto es que con mucha frecuencia se vuelve a hablar de “Alf”, el extraterrestre que alteraba la vida de los Tanner y amenazaba la existencia de Suertudo.
La serie tiene muchos fanáticos en Argentina donde grandes y chicos se reunian en torno de la tele para ver a Max Wright (Willie Tanner), Anne Schedeen (Kate Tanner), Andrea Elson (Lynn Tanner) y Benji Gregory (Brian Tanner) , la familia que alojaba al hombrecito llegado de Melmac que charlaba hasta por los codos, tenía que ocultarse de los vecinos y de la autoridad y perseguía al gato de la familia porque en su planeta ese tipo de mascotas eran auténticos snacks.
En los de los Tanner Alf siempre tuvo en Brian, el benjamín de la familia, a un incondicional que lo protegía, lo defendía y lo acompañaba.
Benji Gregory , el actor que encarnaba al más chico de los Tanner, ha cumplido ya 45 años y aunque creyó que tras su participación en “Alf” -de los 8 a los 12 años-le lloverían las ofertas de trabajo, en realidad apareció ocasionalmente- y nunca en forma protagónica-y terminó incorporándose a la marina de los Estados Unidos, de la que ahora está retirado.
La historia sobre el extraterrestre terminó en 1990 y a partir de entonces Gregory solo tuvo algunos trabajos durante los siguientes tres años.
Luego de su papel de Brian, participó en un capítulo de Murphy Brown y actuó en las películas Nunca olvides y Lady Against the Odds. Por último, también puso su voz para la serie animada de Volver al futuro y para la película animada El bosque de colores.
En 2000, entró a la Academia de Arte de San Francisco, California, pero su camino cambió cuando decidió incorporarse en la Marina estadounidense, donde permaneció hasta 2005.
Ahora sigue alejado de la televisión pero en sus redes sociales admite que, pese al largo tiempo transcurrido, los fans de Alf le siguen pidiendo autógrafos.
