Argentina’s shelled pecans will soon be available in Israel, consolidating a new market for the already leading nut supplier.
After several meetings between the countries’ agriculture and food safety departments to iron out phytosanitary protocols, Israel’s Plant Protection and Inspection Service approved the import of Argentine shelled pecans for human consumption starting this August.

In a press release announcing the news, Argentina’s Agricultural Health and Quality Service (Senasa) said Israel conducted several pest risk analysis tests to make the decision. All studies were based on Argentina’s shelled pecans’ phytosanitary conditions and processing protocols.
To expedite shipments and simplify export procedures, phytosanitary certification requirements are already available for exporters on Senasa’s CERT-POV website.
In 2024, Senasa reported Argentina exported a total of 611.75 tons of shelled pecans. The U.S. is its main buyer, followed by the Netherlands, Belarus, Russia, and Turkiye.
