Argentine President Javier Milei said he would seek to bring Formula 1 racing back to the country. Argentina has not hosted a race in this championship since 1998.
Meeting with FIA representatives
As Channel NewsAsia reports, Milei said in a radio interview that he would personally seek support for this initiative in the coming weeks. He plans to attend the International Automobile Federation (FIA) Americas Congress, which is scheduled to take place in Buenos Aires from August 31 to September 2.
The event will be hosted by the Automobile Club of Argentina. Milei also announced his intention to meet with FIA representatives during the congress.

Racetrack reconstruction
Since the beginning of the year, the Oscar and Juan Gálvez racetrack in Buenos Aires has been undergoing reconstruction. The work is intended to help the track obtain Grade 1 status, which would allow it to host races of this level.
The racetrack has already confirmed a MotoGP visit in 2027. Reconstruction is being accelerated to obtain an FIA Grade 1 licence and create an opportunity for Formula 1’s potential return in the following seasons.
