Rabbi Chaim Peretz Berman, Rosh Yeshiva of Ponevezh in Bnei Brak, Rabbi Malkiel Kotler, Rosh Yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, New Jersey, and Rabbi Avraham Salim, Rosh Yeshiva of Maor HaTorah in Jerusalem, were warmly welcomed by Chabad Shluchim during their tour of South America.
The senior rabbis were traveling as part of the “Keren Olam HaTorah” campaign to strengthen Torah learning on the continent. During their visit to Buenos Aires, they met with a delegation led by Rabbi Tzvi Grunblatt, Head Shliach of Argentina.
Rabbi Grunblatt gave them an overview of Chabad’s operations, which include 57 institutions. Nearly 30 of them are in the capital city of Buenos Aires alone. Its educational network serves over 2,000 students in schools and yeshivas, anchored by a new 247,570-square-foot campus built to house 1,900 pupils.
Rabbi Grunblatt was joined by his son-in-law, Rabbi Chaim Oirechman, Director of Chabad-Lubavitch Puerto Madero, as well as a select group of students from the Chabad Yeshiva in Buenos Aires.
Together with their Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Shmuel Schtroks and Yeshiva Director Rabbi Elimelech Raitchik, they conversed with the visiting rabbis in Gemara Baba Kama, which is learned in the yeshiva this year.
