Argentina has expanded the RIGI program to include railways and technology – UA.NEWS

The Argentine government has expanded the scope of the RIGI program, which provides incentives for large-scale investments, to include projects aimed at developing railway infrastructure and the technology sector. These changes are outlined in Decree No. 748/2026, published in the Official Gazette, according to the Buenos Aires Times.

The new rules cover railway construction, renovation, track gauge modernization, and electrification. They also apply to ancillary infrastructure, including signaling systems and bridges. Priority in these projects will be given to freight transportation and the development of production capacity.

In the technology sector, projects may be included in the program if they ensure an improvement of at least 50% to the existing facility. Another requirement is a useful life of at least 10 years. The minimum investment amount for technology projects is set at 250 million U.S. dollars.
