The companies behind Argentina’s first large-scale floating LNG export development have secured $900m of project finance for the dedicated gas pipeline that will feed two FLNG units in the Gulf of San Matías.
The San Matías Pipeline consortium, comprising Pan American Energy, YPF, Pampa Energía, Harbour Energy and Golar LNG, closed the syndicated financing on Friday. Citi, JP Morgan, Santander and Itaú structured the deal.
The 472 km pipeline forms a central part of the $1.3bn infrastructure programme linking the Vaca Muerta shale region with the Río Negro coast. It will have capacity to move around 27m cu m of gas per day to the Southern Energy liquefaction development. Construction is set to start this month and run through mid-2028.
Southern Energy plans to deploy Golar LNG’s Hilli Episeyo in 2027, followed by the MKII FLNG in 2028. The two units will provide around 6m tonnes per year of LNG export capacity.
