The calm of the weekend was disrupted by an event that has been closely followed by Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) specialists, involving a Boeing C-40 Clipper aircraft of the United States Air Force (USAF), which recently arrived in Argentina.
As of now, neither the U.S. Embassy nor the Argentine national government has issued any official statements regarding the purpose of the Clipper’s arrival yesterday. This is not a minor detail, as the C-40 — the military version of the Boeing 737 Next Generation — is used for the transport of cargo and personnel, including VIPs such as military and civilian authorities, and is currently operated by both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy.

The aircraft, identified by registration number 05-0730, arrived yesterday at Jorge Newbery International Airport in Buenos Aires, coming from Camp Springs via San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Over the following hours, its presence gained increasing attention, as OSINT and flight-tracking sources reported that the aircraft took off again, heading toward the city of Ushuaia, in the province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands, sparking a new wave of speculation regarding its presence in the southernmost city in the world.

At the time of this publication, both the aircraft and the personnel it transported remain in Ushuaia around midday, while neither the U.S. Embassy nor Argentina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued any statements providing further clarity on the presence of the USAF Boeing C-40 Clipper in the country.
